Please tell us a little bit about yourself, your company and your position in the company
Hi, my name is Aryeh Loeb. I am Studio Head at Stellar Entertainment EU in Utrecht. Stellar Entertainment is headquartered in Guildford, UK, with around 45 people. In Utrecht we are currently at 10 people. The founders of Stellar have their roots in arcade racing games mostly. Titles like Burnout and Need for Speed. In the past years Stellar has done various remasters. Later this year you will definitely hear more about that. Personally, you might have met me as Incubation Manager at Dutch Game Garden or at the Royal Dutch Navy and their VR simulation studio. Before that I was with Gamious and even earlier than that Guerrilla and Mindscape. I’ve always had a facilitating and supporting role in all of the companies I’ve worked and I feel my role as Studio Head here at Stellar is no different.
We would love to see (or hear) some of your work! Please show us some examples of your recent projects.
Unfortunately I can’t show what we are working on right now. But I can talk about earlier work: Burnout Paradise: Remastered and Need for Speed: Remastered were significant projects for Stellar. We’ve also had our hands on Need for Speed: Unbound and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order™, albeit in a smaller capacity.
How long have you been a DGA member and what is your main reason for joining? What can DGA do to help your company?
Personally I’ve been a member for two years, but Stellar is a new member. We feel that it’s important to contribute to the Dutch games industry and that starts with becoming a member ourselves. Having a healthy ecosystem in our industry includes having a strong members association: better representation nationally and internationally. And better market positions for Dutch companies. In the end Stellar will also benefit from that.
What ambitions/plans do you have for your company?
Stellar has quite ambitious plans! We are looking to grow the company responsibly over the long term. Having multiple locations, one in the UK and one in The Netherlands has been a pretty good start, letting our recruitment source across Europe. We also recently opened up a small office in Malaysia. That means that in the Utrecht office there is room for growth. In the next few months we will be finetuning our road map and we’ll take it from there.
Anything else you would like to share with us?
Thanks for all the work that DGA does! A lot of it goes unnoticed and is for companies and people that might not even be aware of it. But it’s crucial and we are happy to support it.
