In our previous update, we told you about the Italian University of Parma project and how the DGA facilitated the process of finding a Dutch development studio. We also teased about a new upcoming project. Time for an update!
Unfortunately, the teased hedgehog project won’t come to fruition. Due to budget constraints, there was decided to not look for an external game studio.
But the good news is that two other organisations have contacted us. They are looking for Dutch game developers to collaborate with. Here, the DGA will again facilitate the process to make sure there is a viable business case for the studios. If you are a DGA member, you will get first pick in these projects.
The first project is for a key-player in the energy transition that is currently taking place. They are looking for an applied game at their annual conference. The DGA informed all studios that are registered as applied and/or serious. This first project is at the fourth step of the standard DGA model. (see below).
The second project has to do with the importance of investigating journalism. There have been several meetings between the DGA and the organisation. It looks very promising, but it will be a long term project. We are currently still at the first step of the model (see below). We will update you all via email, Slack and our newsletter when more can be shared.
Standard model of DGA facilitation:
- The DGA will meet with the organisation to assess whether the project is viable in terms of scope, expectations, and budget.
- If so, the proposal will be shared with DGA members registered as applied or serious game studios.
- A group meeting between the interested studios and the organisation will be held. The project will be pitched in more detail, followed by a Q&A session.
- Interested studios can then schedule individual meetings with the organisation to pitch their ideas and come to an agreement. The DGA will not be involved in these meetings.
- When no suitable studios are found, the DGA looks beyond its member base.
So, if you want to have a shot at these projects, make sure you’re a DGA member.
To clarify: this entire facilitation process is 100% free of charge. At no point will the DGA receive any payment, goods or services, or other forms of compensation for its involvement.
