We are excited to announce that Breda will host the very first Game Week for a domestic and international audience. This extraordinary event is a collaborative effort between Playgrounds, Breda Game City, Dynasty, BUAS, St. Joost School of Art & Design, and the City of Breda.

Together, we have curated a comprehensive program designed to showcase the dynamic and ever-evolving landscape of the video gaming industry with:

The gaming industry has seen an unprecedented growth, reaching a staggering 200 billion US dollars global revenue in 2023, with approximately 3 billion people actively engaging in video games globally.
In Europe, the market is projected to expand by 8.56%, reaching an impressive 92.7 billion US dollars by 2027.

Within the Netherlands, the gaming landscape is thriving, boasting around 650 game companies generating an estimated revenue of 450 million Euros and providing employment for 4560 individuals (Games Monitor 2022).
Notably, this sector stands out as the fastest-growing within the Dutch creative industries.

Breda, with its’ rich gaming history dating back to the early 2000s, is home to approximately 3,000 students dedicated to game-related studies.
Moreover, the BUAS Creative Media and Game Technologies program proudly holds the global ranking of #3, according to GAMEducation 2022.
In 2024, the Municipality of Breda in cooperation with Buas and the Province of Noord-Brabant, will start a 10,9 million Euro funded 4-year program which will be focused on education & research, community building, venture building for game studio start-ups and scale-ups and establishing a video game Development Center in the city of Breda.
